When IT reaches end-of-life, most companies face a quiet problem. The kit piles up in a cupboard. Drives still hold data. The supplier who set it up doesn't take it back. And the disposal market is full of brokers who'll happily take it away — without telling you where it ends up.
MakeITgood was built to fix that. We're a fully licensed IT Asset Disposition (ITAD) company based in Watford, serving Hertfordshire, London, and the wider UK. We take responsibility for every device from the moment our van leaves your premises to the moment it's been securely erased, refurbished, resold, or responsibly broken down for material recovery.
What "done properly" actually means
Our process is built around three principles: chain of custody, certified data sanitisation, and maximum reuse before recycling. Every device is logged on collection. Every drive is wiped to NIST 800-88 / CESG-aligned standards or physically shredded on request. Every outcome — refurbished, recycled, or destroyed — is documented and signed off.
Built for businesses that take compliance seriously
We work with charities, schools, professional services firms, and SMEs across the South East. Our clients include Catch22 — a national social-impact charity — and we hold ourselves to the standards their auditors expect. That means GDPR-aligned data handling, ISO-aligned process discipline, and an Environment Agency upper-tier waste carrier licence (CBDU311007) covering every collection.
The "Good, Bad, and Ugly" sorting framework
Every device that reaches our Watford workshop is triaged. Good kit gets refurbished and given a second working life — either back to you, redeployed, or resold through Back Market and eBay. Bad kit gets component-level repair before that decision is made. Ugly kit — beyond economic repair or end-of-spec — is responsibly stripped to the metal under WEEE regulations, with materials recovered. Nothing reaches landfill.

Ask us directlyWhat is IT Asset Disposition (ITAD)?
ITAD is the secure, compliant, and environmentally responsible end-of-life management of business IT equipment. It includes collection, data sanitisation, refurbishment, resale, and recycling under WEEE regulations.
Do you provide certificates?
Yes. Every device receives an itemised data destruction certificate, and every collection produces a WEEE waste transfer note. We are Environment Agency licensed under CBDU311007.
How quickly can you collect?
Most Watford, Hertfordshire, and London collections are scheduled within 3 working days. Urgent same-day collections are available on request.
Do you charge for collection?
Standard collections are free for batches of 10+ devices in our service area. Smaller batches and specialist removals are quoted individually.
What happens to the data on the devices?
Drives are securely erased to UK Government CESG / NIST 800-88 standards, or physically destroyed on request. Each device is logged with a serial number and tied to a destruction certificate.
